Almost 65% of credit card users in the United States make only the monthly minimum payment due to the credit card companies. The use of credit card has assumed so much importance, especially in countries like the United States, where that an average college going student, holds approximately 5 to 6 credit cards. There have been market surveys which have been done which throw light on the fact that the income of almost 40% American households in less than their monthly expenses. This would entail use borrowed money to cover the monthly household expenses. There are almost 60% of credit card users who do not pay their monthly dues and end up as defaulters of the credit card companies.
The situation of wide spread use of credit cards and subsequently the enormous rise in the credit cards debts in the united states has given rise to a very grim situation. It is a situation which demands immediate medication otherwise; it has all the makings of turning into a major financial catastrophe.
